Eastern Synod considered starting a Reformed Church mission in Stroudsburg, PA
A number of Reformed Church people folk gathered and received permission to meet in the basement of the Monroe County Courthouse at 7th and Monroe Street forming a Reformed Congregation.
The congregation was formally organized on May 19. On Aug. 6, the Rev. George Kerschner was installed as pastor. During his pastorate, the church building was constructed and named Zion Reformed Church.
Property for church purchased for $750. Cornerstone placed and a Gothic style, stone building of 36 feet by 36 feet with a 42-foot pressed brick front church was built with a seating capacity of 400. Cost was approximately $8,000.
The church building was dedicated on Nov. 16. Kerosene lamps provided light.
Electric lights were installed.

Sunday school chapel was built, and the church auditorium was renovated.
The parsonage on Green and Monroe Streets was sold, and another parsonage on North Eighth Street next to the church building was purchased. The Sunday School was completed.

Members purchase organ keys at a cost of $25 per key. Members donate for new hymnals. Church runs day care center, a fire alarm system installed, exterior of church covered in brick facing, regular windows replaced, new flashing on steeple, Lexan covering placed on stained glass window for protection, and parsonage sold.
The Peace Garden was installed between the old parsonage building and the left side of the church. Parking spaces were added for staff.
New signage at back of church with letters purchased through proceeds from in-house auction, new church doors installed, brass plaques on pews, windowsills lacquered, sidewalk at side of church repaired.
